Don’t forget the TranzAlpine train journey to/from Christchurch, tours to the Pancake Rocks, historic gold mining village, cave rafting and 4WD motorbikes.
Features: Nestled against bush-clad hills, Kainga-ra started in the 1930’s as the Catholic Marist Brothers Residence. This ex-Catholic building was recently featured in the NZ Historic Places Trust Magazine. Most of the character has been retained. In the Chapel, the pews have been swapped for beds. The library is now a comfortable lounge offering river and sea views.
